According to Sina, the launching ceremony for the construction of NGBdemonstration network in Shanghai took place on July 31. On the ceremony, the Ministry of Science and Technology, SARFT and Shanghai municipal government singed cooperation agreement that marked NGB construction has enter into the substantive stage.

It is predicted that by the end of 2010, Shanhai will finish the construction of NGB in the demonstration areas for about 500,000 households.

NGB, based on the digital CATV and CMMB technologies, has the core technology 3TNet as backbone and features function of the Three Network Convergence, combining cable and wireless transmissions with all-in-one network nation wide. 

The Shanghai Oriental Cable Networks (OCN), a State-owned company, is in charge of the construction of NGB. In order to demonstrate the features of the new technology, OCN has long planned to build a permernent exhibition to showcase both equipment and technology. After several rounds of investigation and selection, four exhibition and technology companies were selected to participated the design bidding and project negotiation. Skyline's design has refreshed panels' minds and won their applaud without any hesitance.

The Demo Center is planned to be completed by December, 2009.
